Ms. Carrie "Cara" Stewart

Northport Funeral & Cremation Service family extends our warmest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the family of Ms. Carrie Stewart. Ms. Stewart passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024 in Northport, AL. A private service will be held.

Cara Handy Stewart was a loving mother, a loyal, dedicated wife, a beautiful woman,and a caring and thoughtful lady. Always putting everyone else’s needs above her own,she was the rock of our family. She kept us together through the good times and thetough times. My mother maintained her dignity and grace through war and peace. Her strength shined brightly on the outside although on the inside, I am certain that she was very scared. My father was gone a lot. She knew that most of the time during his absence that he was in harms way. Yet, she never showed us her distress. She was our rock. She was our protector and shielded us from the stresses she was experiencing. My father was a soldier. Not only a soldier. He was a highly decorated Green Beret. Most of his assignments were classified, therefore, my mother did not know where he was, what his assignment was, what dangers he was in. Yet, Cara, my mom, never let on to me and my brother her worries and concerns. I do not have words to describe her beauty, intelligence, and the compassion she showed for my brother and me. 

Moma spent most of her life pulling my brother and me from the holes we had dug for ourselves. I have dedicated the last 25 years of my life to taking care of my mother and father. Even with those 25 years of love, I can never repay the compassion that is owed to you, Moma. I love you forever. Thank you for your strength, grace, courage, and love. Where you are now, I know that there is no pain. You certainly earned a place with no pain. I will see you again, Moma.
