Brenda was born August 19, 1945 in Reform, Alabama to Guy and Martha Laurene Alexander. She graduated from Pickens County High School in 1963. She attended the University of Alabama where she met the love of her life, Jerry Weaver, in a math class. At UA, she earned 3 degrees: a Bachelors, Masters and an Educational Specialist in Mathematics. In 1970, Brenda and Jerry were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa. They spent the first two years of marriage living in Washington DC, where Jerry served in the Navy. They then moved to Knoxville, Tennessee where she received a Masters Degree in Management Science from the University of Tennessee. In 1978, Brenda and Jerry, welcomed their twins, Alexander and Hilary. The family returned to Tuscaloosa in 1980. Brenda was an associate professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Stillman College until her retirement in 2015. After retirement, Brenda relished her most treasured role of being Grandmommy. She was adored by her grandchildren, and was very involved in their lives. She was an active member at Saint Mark Church, where she was a member of the Nova Fellowship Sunday school class.
Brenda was a wonderful person who never met a stranger. She had as many stories to tell as you had time to listen. She was the embodiment of who Christ calls us to be. She exemplified the Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. She was a woman of integrity and she had a deep commitment to her values. She never shied away from speaking up for what she thought was right. Those who knew her recognize the uniqueness of her genuine goodness. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Guy and Martha Laurene Alexander and her brother James “Jim” Alexander.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jerry Weaver; her children Alexander Weaver (Gemi) and Hilary Beatty (Rick); four grandchildren: Logan and Aedan Wyllie-Weaver and Allen James and Evan Beatty; her sister and best friend, Linda Carr; her sister-in-law, Paulette Alexander; three nephews and their wives and children: Michael Alexander (Lauren), Richard Alexander (Kristy) and Jonathan Carr (Lisa).
