Mr. Donald Atwood

Donald C. Atwood passed away May 15, 2023, at the age of 87. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain Dad came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

Don was born in Mayodan, North Carolina May 24, 1935. He was one of thirteen children and was the last survivor. He met the love of his life, Pattie, in the schoolhouse doorway and it was love at first sight. He joined the Air Force and retired a highly decorated serviceman after 25 years of service.

Don and Pattie had three children, Donna Brooks (Kevin Brooks and grandson Robey Brooks), Alan Shane Atwood (grandchildren Joshua Atwood, Shane-Li Atwood, and Samantha Atwood) and Toni Lewis (Larry Lewis and grandchildren Adrian Hughes, Heidi Hughes). He also had five great grandchildren.

Don will be honored with a graveside ceremony at Pineview Cemetery in Valley Grande, AL to be announced later.
